Me and hubby at the concert

I had always been a huge fan of Andrea since I heard him sang Con Te Partiro. It was one of the first CDs I bought (previously it was always tapes =P). Anyhow, to be honest, I never imagine of actually going to his concert. Because it was usually expensive, and there was never one in Indonesia or Germany prior to 2009. I went to the Mascagni Gala at Deutsche Oper Berlin, but that was another story .

So this year, we thought, we finished our master study and we should give ourselves a gift . And when I could get the tickets back in November (yup, 8 months before the concert) I thought this is really a sign that we should go .

It turned out to be one of the best decision we made this year! It was truly a special concert, the one concert a Bocelli fan should go to.

The concert took place in Andrea Bocell’s hometown, Lajatico. The venue was not exactly in the city itself, but in an open air amphitheater in the middle of the Tuscan hills. It is so beautiful! You can see the yellow fields around the area, the brilliant blue sky, it was just perfect. It looked like it just came straight out of a painting .

This year theme was called I colori dell’anima. To be honest. I don’t really get the theme, except for the theater being adorned with colorful and beautiful statues (hope you can see it on the back of my pictures). Also they didn’t really promote the theme nor the performing artists until a couple of days before the show, it’s all a big surprise .

The repertoire this year was more on the opera / classical side. Pretty obvious from the guest artists line up: The Abruzzese Symphony orchestra, conducted by maestro Eugene Kohn, soprano Sabine Cvilak, mezzo soprano Katherine Jenkins, Placido Domingo, Toquinho, and Andrea Griminelli. Also there was a special opening act performance from the Lama Tzong Khapa Group.

For me, there were four highlights from this concert, in which I’m also lucky enough to have it recorded so I can share it with you .

First is when Andrea Bocelli entered the stage on a horse. Gosh I was still in such disbelieve and super happy shock

Second part is when he had the duet with Toquinho, singing “Acquarella”. I immediately fell in love with the song. I was a beautiful collaboration!

Third part is of course when he sang Con Te Partiro! I can’t believe I have the opportunity to hear him singing this song live! A dream come true . It was so romantic to be under the Tuscan sky, holding hubby’s hand, listening to this song… *happy tears*

Last part is the final encore, of course! What a way of closing a wonderful evening . Thank you so much Andrea for making our dreams come true. I hope I could go there again next year!
